Who doesn't love a Summer wedding? Well, when Stacey contacted me a year and a half ago she was planning a beautiful Spring wedding for May. Like many brides & grooms this year, many uncertainties went along with planning the finishing touches. Many local businesses were closed or only open limited hours. This made for some stressful wedding planning. Stacey powered through it all, and when she got the go-ahead to move their wedding date to July 11th. Stacey knew she had to arrange all the details in less than a month.
Stacey & Don both were born and raised here in Carroll County. Stacey is a graduate of Westminster High School and has a career as a Vet Tech. Don is a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School and is a Welder & Fabricator. They met through an online dating site in January of 2015. They spent the next 4 years growing as a couple and a family with Don's daughter Leah. Don decided during Christmas of 2018 it was time to take their relationship to the next level. One night at a family dinner right before Christmas he took Stacey into the living room and proposed. Stacey was very surprised and super excited. They love to spend their time outdoors together. Hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling are just some of the hobbies they enjoy. Their favorite adventure is on Don's motorcycle rides with friends.
Planning the wedding, Stacey and Don went with the wedding theme of "The Hunt is Over". They chose the venue located at Big Pipe Creek in Taneytown. The ceremony was held by the creek at the rustic white gazebo. A beautiful building centered on the property provided ample space for the reception. The venue was perfect for their day. The day was a perfect July day, HOT, but perfect. The sun and clouds were bright and beautiful. The bride was nervous while the groom was ready to begin. Everything had come together. The carrot bridal cake and the array of flavored cupcakes were delivered from Stone House Cakery. They placed their wooden cake topper with their theme words "The Hunt is Over".
The mother of the bride worked alongside Stacey as the planner for her daughter's wedding. Kim and Stacey worked on several DIY projects creating beautiful decorations. The colors of the wedding were mint and lilac. The flowers were purchased from Bowman’s in Westminster and Stacey and her mom put all of the centerpieces together. The shades of purple in the flowers were a perfect offset to the soft flowing A-line mint dresses for the bridesmaids.
Surrounded by family and friends, the ceremony took place at 2 in the afternoon. During the ceremony, there were many moments of tears. Mom's were crying, Stacey was crying, Leah was crying. I have to admit that even I had a teary moment. It was so beautiful and heartfelt. Both Stacey's parents walked her down the aisle to her groom. The excitement on Stacey's face when she stopped at the end of the aisle was simply priceless. This was a young woman, who was in love with the man before her and this was her moment and she knew it. All her nerves that she had gone away within that moment.
During the ceremony Don, Stacey & Leah all poured colored sand into a frame to complete their unity not only as a husband and wife but as a family. After that Stacey and Leah read some poems and letters to each other signifying the relationship. The reception was overflowing with food, from Beef It Up Catering, and dancing. The bridal party showed off some creative moves. The father of the bride even jumped in on a few dances and showed the youngsters a thing or two.
Bride Stacey was probably still picking out the cake from her dress later that night but we sent them off in a 52 Chevy Deluxe. Now that is a way to exit your wedding. Overall, I love this wonderful couple and their families. I was honored to photograph their wedding!!
